With reference to your letter dated the 6th

instant, 2202/98, asking for a reply to your letter of

the 8th March last, relative to an application from the

Green Island Cement Company for the extension of the

lease on which they hold Kowloon Marine Lot No:40; I am

directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint

you for the information of Mr. Secretary Chamberlain that

it was found necessary to refer the question to the

General Officer Commanding at Hong Kong, and that a reply

will be sent as soon as possible after the receipt of his

report.
